Not a year can go by without me reviewing some kind of Tarte
LipSurgence product. “My name is Helen, and I have Tarte LipSurgence Problem”.
You can check out my previous blog posts about these beauties, but to sum it
up, I love them!
Tarte Wanderlust Special Edition LipSurgence: L-R: Dashing (Lip Luster), Heartfelt (Lip Creme), Miracle (Lip Creme), Festive (Lip Tint), and Kind (Lip Luster) |
I must say in November I was a little disappointed that
Tarte had not put out another set of 5 full size LipSurgence, and instead opted
to make a mini’s set. I look forward to the holiday set every year, and I still
kick myself for missing out on the first 5 piece set they did. Well, needless
to say I did not get the minis set, because I enjoy my full size lippies and
the minis just didn’t do anything for me. Fast forward to a few weeks before
Christmas, I was browsing the QVC website doing some Christmas shopping and
decided to check out their Tarte products and there she was!! That ever elusive Wanderlust Special Edition set of 5 full size LipSurgence, that had been hiding from me all winter season
long. Needless to say, without even giving it a second thought I tossed that
bad boy in the basket and checked out!! Now that you have that back story,
let’s get into the review and swatches!
This set includes 5 full size LipSurgence in 3 different finishes: 2 Lip Lusters in Kind and Dasing, 2 Lip Cremes in Miracle and Heartfelt, and 1 Lip Tint in Festive.
Top: L-R: Kind, Festive, Miracle, Bottom: L-R: Heartfelt, and Dashing |
Kind: Lip Luster
Leaves a nice everyday wearable pink shade on your lips with
a hint of a golden luster to it. It is has a shimmer quality to it but is not
chunky or gritty feeling on the lips. Glides on smoothly and is buildable for a
bit more coverage.

Festive: Lip Tint
This is a very sheer wash of red. As the name suggests it is
a tint and therefore it is not opaque. However, this does leave a nice wash of
color to the lips without going full out red. It is once again a very wearable
everyday color. There is no shimmer or luster in this formula and it leaves
lips moisturized. This product does wear so you do have to reapply, and the
stain left behind is minimal

Miracle: Lip Creme
This is a new formula to me for the LipSurgence line. First
off it is a gorgeous creamy coral. I was very excited to try these. They have a
nice creamy consistency, almost like a butter lipstick. The color payoff is beautiful
and you are left with a nice creamy finish to the lips. In addition, these lip
crèmes appear to have a more opaque formula than the other LipSurgence lines
(with the exception of the Matte). I really enjoyed this formula, and found the
texture to be really pleasant and buttery on the lips.
Heartfelt: Lip Creme
Hello Pigment!! Once again this crème formula is much more
opaque and buildable than the other lines of the LipSurgence. I am loving it!
Not to mention, it is a gorgeous Red-ish berry shade, that is completely on the
trend for the Fall and Winter season.

Dashing: Lip Luster
This lip luster is a dark mauve-y berry color, that can be
built to a nice almost wine color on the lips. The luster in this formula is lost in the
color, so I can hardly tell what color the luster is but it obviously
compliments it beautifully.

Highlights:
- All have a minty smell to them
- Lusters – have a shimmer in the formula, and when they wear, some shimmer is left behind on the lip – very little staining except for the shade Dashing
- Tints – sheer wash of color. Very little staining, needs reapplication.
- Crème – The formula is pigmented and creamy, leave lips feeling soft and looks like a lipstick.
- Price: $42 - QVC price $38.24 + S&H $4.97
- Availability: QVC
Much to no one’s surprise, I love
this set! I hope Tarte comes out with another set next year, and hopefully with
a bit more variety of colors, and maybe throw in some colors from their
permanent collection. It’s just a suggestion! Overall, I would say if you’re a
lipsurgence junkie, like yours truly you will love this set. Also, it is a nice
set to give someone who is just starting out in makeup or prefers colors that
are good for everyday wear. Do you have a lip product favorite?
Stay Beautiful!
Love,
Helen
