Color Tattoo Metal |
As some of you may know after my review of the Color Tattoo Limited Edition Colors, I am a faithful lover of Maybelline Color Tattoos. This time we're going to talk about the Metal Collection that they came out with no too long ago. I had a really hard time tracking this collection down, I finally stumbled upon it after I had almost given up hope that I would ever see it all. So, imagine my excitement when I saw the display and they had all the colors I wanted to get!! I picked up, Electric Blue, Silver Strike, and Inked in Pink.

As I've stated before, these Color Tattoo's are great alone, as an eye liner, in the water line, and as an eye shadow base. I have used them for all 3 of the above stated purposes, and they worked great for each and every one. They are all very blend-able and you can use multiple color tattoos at once, as you would your regular eye shadow. I do not normally feel the need to use a primer with these as they are very long wearing on me (they last all day!). The texture is creamy and smooth.
Electric Blue: In the jar at first glance it looks like a nice navy blue, but if you look a little closer, it actually reflects somewhat purple with silver shimmer. I guess the best way to describe it is like a blueberry, a blue-purple. It has a nice sheen to it, hence the metal.

Silver Strike: In the jar and swatched, it is a true silver color. There is no better way to describe it. It also has silver shimmer in it, and it does have a metallic like reflect to it as well.

Inked in Pink: This one also looks the same swatched as it does in the jar. It is a very pretty metallic cool pink. It also has some silver shimmer running through it and has a metallic sheen on the skin.

Pros:
- Long Lasting: Lasts FOREVER! And I normally use these products with out any eye primer & it does not come off until the end of the day with some makeup remover.
- Versatile/Multi-Purpose: Can be used not only as an eye shadow, but as a base, or eyeliner even for the waterline. I was really impressed how long this stayed on my waterline, I absolutely love it!
- Good Color Selection from Neutrals to Deeper colors.
- Build-able Color
- Blend-able
- Creamy Texture, not drying.
- Packaging: Although it is glass, the glass is pretty thick, heavy duty, and looks quality to me :) . It can get to be a bit bulky if you have as many as I do.
- Availability: Drugstores, Ulta, Target, or anywhere you know that sells Maybelline products. (I will admit that it was a little harder to track down, but they are out there!)
- Nice Metallic Effect - Especially Inked in Pink and Silver Strike
- Price: On average $4.99 - $6.99
Cons:
- The first coat sometimes comes out a bit on the streaky side, but can be easily corrected by letting the first coat dry and then layering a 2nd coat to even it and make the color more opaque
- You do need patience for this product sometimes, because the first application may not always come out perfect.
Application Tip: I normally use a double ended concealer brush to apply this product, it lets me pick up more product than my finger and does not mess with the consistency of the product. This helps me avoid too much streaking and get better, more even coverage.
If you are debating whether or not to take a chance on these, I would say, GO FOR IT!! & You will not be disappointed. That, and for the quality you are getting, which rivals higher-end lines, the price is a steal. To sweeten the deal, check your local drugstore circular for those Buy 1 get 1 half off deals. This Metal Collection in particular is a nice mix of neutral and bold colors, there is something for everyone!!
Let me know what you guys think of the color tattoos? Do you love them as much as I obviously do?
Stay Beautiful!!
Love,
Helen
